PRODUCTS
Picture
Class A : This material is typically used as top dressing for a driveway. The product compacts  well and is very clean once washed by the rain. This is crushed to a maximum size of 3/4”.

Crusher Dust : Crusher dust is a very fine product that compacts  well. This product is crushed to a maximum of 3/8” and has a variety of uses including a good base under patio stones and also would be good for walkways.

Natural Mulch : This is a lighter brown fine mulch, easy to shovel made from spruce, fir and pine bark. It is a decorative product that helps control weeds and protect plant roots. Mulch also helps hold the moisture within the soil.

Black Mulch: Our black mulch is composed of shredded softwood and colored with naturally occurring elements found in the earth’s surface. The black mulch is dyed with a charcoal based colorant. This mulch is safe to use around your plants, children and pets. The color typically lasts for more than a year.  Both black and red dyed products need to be spread at least 24 hours before a rain so the color dries.

SOIL:
Valley Mix Topsoil : Some of the best soil in Nova Scotia comes from the Annapolis Valley.  A minimum of 4” deep is recommended for growing grass.  Our Valley Mix soil is a blend of Valley topsoil, composted bark, sand pit top dressing and sand which is great for growing grass and in the garden.  Soil is screened through a 3/4" screener removing rocks and pebbles that are larger than 3/4".

1/2", 3/4" & 1 1/4" Stone: This product is mainly used for drainage as it does not compact very well.

1” Granite: This product is more decorative and can be used as drainage stone around your driveway or house.

CALCULATING CUBIC YARDAGE:
There are 27 cubic feet in 1 cubic yard.  A cubic yard is 3ft high by 3ft long by 3ft wide.  To determine how many yards you need measure the length (in feet) X the width (in feet) X depth (in inches) then divide that by 324.  For example if you had a driveway that needed class A that measures 20 feet long by 8 feet wide and you want it 2 inches thick: 20x8 = 160x2 = 320/324 = 0.99 cubic yards.
